4th of July

I love the 4th of July holiday. We have pretty much the same traditions as we have since we came to St. George. We go to Vernon Worthen park by our house. The city puts on a great activity day. The boys are a little old for the water activities now, but we walk around to all the booths, listen to music and take part in the watermelon seed spitting contest. Free watermelon!

This year there was a Hispanic booth selling 4 different kind of drinks. We got one of each and then shared. One was Horacha, lemonade, watermelon and one made from a flower. Not sure of the name of that one. We all had our favorites. Funny how tastes differ.

Came home and chilled out in the heat of the day. About 5:00 we ate our "picnic" dinner. Then it was time to go back to the park for the fireworks. This year I wanted to try and take pictures of the fireworks. We always walk the 6 blocks over. Parking is a nightmare even if we were not that close. Half the town comes. We all bring blankets, chairs and coolers. It is a great evening for seeing friends, visiting and sno cones. The only time of the year that we get them. It is patiently waiting for dark that is the hardest part.
I found a guy that was taking pictures of the fireworks also. He gave me a few pointers. This one is the best I think. Happy Birthday America.
