Time Out For Women

A couple of months ago I was in Deseret Book and saw a flyer that Time Out for Women was coming to Saint George. I have heard rave reviews about it and really wanted to go. It is a women's convention/spiritual retreat. They have inspirational speakers and LDS music artists. I really wanted to go with my mom. I called her and she said that she would come up.

It was a little pricey at $55 for Friday night and all day Saturday, but we paid it. We got there early Friday evening and got into line. There were a LOT of women. We were really close to the front though. Times like this it pays to be early.

I of course, can't stand to be inactive, and took my knitting. I worked on a sweater for Christmas while we waited. (Hey, time managment!)
The Friday night session was from 6-9pm. Hillary Weeks was the musician. She is one of my favoriets and she was great. She did a parady on several songs, and revised them for mom's. She had us almost rolling in the aisles. The theme of this year was "Sweet Assurance". Basically that we can cope with life much better when we have the sweet assurance of our testimonies, who we are and what this life is all about. We came out of there just full of the spirit and so excited to go back in the morning.

Saturday morning we did the same thing. We got there about an hour before the doors were supposed to open. Both times that enabled us to get really good seats. We were only about 10 rows back both sessions. Our speakers were Mary Ellen Edmunds, Emily Watts, Emily Freeman, Jill Manning, and Chieko Okazaki. Kenneth Cope sang along with another session from Hillary. Kenneth sang a song about the atonement that had me and everyone around me crying. I loved it.

They said that this was the largest group this year. The event was sold out. There were 3,000 women there. They said that they have decided to trade years. They are going to do Las Vegas one year, and then St. George the next. I want to go every time. I thought it was expensive before we went, but mom and I both agreed that it was worth every penny. It was sooo good. I came away spiritually filled, and it was fun to bond with mom doing it.
