Got up early this morning and drove to Williamsburg. We had to in the Chesapeake Bay Tunnel. It is 17.6 miles underwater to the other side. There is about 100 feet of water overhead. Even though I knew it was safe, I have to admit to a bit of trepidation when we went under.
Got to Williamsburg and checked in at the Visitors center. There were kiosk's to print our tickets. We did that and then went to the customer service desk to ask her about checking in at the hotel. She told us we had the wrong tickets. We got a park discount for staying at one of ther hotels. That was a nice surprise.
We drove over to the hotel and parked. Our room wasn't ready, so we just locked everything in the car and started walking. The first thing we saw was the magazine and guardhouse.
These were some of the munitions and uniforms for the defense of Williamsburg.
Fire engine and buckets that were house next door to the jail. As we arrived in the common we saw this fife and drum group coming up the street. Up on the courthouse steps they were annoucing that in an hour Patrick Henry was going to address the residents.
